Sustainable Spirit, 4 Day Stay in Okanagan BC 

Experience British Columbia’s Thompson Okanagan. Recently awarded Biosphere Certification, the Thompson Okanagan features incredible ecological diversity, stunning scenery and cultural richness, as well as award winning wineries, cideries and an abundance of culinary delights.

 

Price: From $6517.26 taxes inclusive, for two travellers. Accommodation is not included, accommodation will be selected to suit the traveller’s accessibility requirements, subject to applicable pricing.

This experience is designed for 2-6 persons.

 

Departures: June-September 2021

Itinerary:

  • Day 1:

    • Arrive at Kelowna, BC

    • Meet your hosts on arrival. Indigenous and local, your guides for the next 3 days will take care of transportation and tour arrangements, escort you through the activities and provide a unique cultural understanding of the region only available from the peoples who have called the region home for millenia. 

    • Learn about local traditions and histories as you travel from Kelowna to the South Okanagan (est. 2.5 hours). There will be stops at places of significance. 

    • Check into a South Okanagan hotel or resort. Accommodation options will be offered as suitable to the guest’s personal accessibility requirements.

    • After a brief refreshment break, visit a local indigenous cultural site for a tour, followed by a tasting experience at a renowned indigenous winery 

    • Guests return to their hotel to relax and unwind, evening at leisure

 

  • Day 2:

    • Morning departure for Cawston, BC

    • Agriculture is the engine of the Thompson Okanagan. Local farms, large and small, produce an abundant wealth of produce (and grapes!), cheeses and other products. Visit a local organic farm for a hands-in-the-dirt agriculture experience, learn how your food is grown and supplied.  

    • Sit down for a relaxed family-style lunch in a convivial atmosphere, featuring farm-to-table food that couldn’t be fresher (0 Mile diet!). Options are available to suit travellers with dietary restrictions.

    • Visit a nearby ecological centre to explore Canada’s only desert in-depth, supported by cultural insights from an indigenous perspective. 

    • Time to refresh and tantalize with a visit to a gorgeous, and sustainably operated, boutique winery. Guests are encouraged to pick up a bottle (or case) of some of BC’s tastiest wine, not available in stores.

    • Return to the hotel, evening at leisure. Rest-up and pack! Tomorrow will be a busy day, starting early.

 

  • Day 3: 

    • Morning departure for Kelowna, BC

    • Guided tour from South Okanagan to West Kelowna.

    • Renew your spirit and deepen your understanding of people and place, with a guided medicine walk led by traditional elders.

    • Time to fuel up, enjoy a picnic lunch in natural surroundings, locally catered.

    • Head to the water and gear up.

    • Experience Okanagan Lake up close in a traditional canoe. Guests learn to paddle and work together while enjoying an authentic experience, keeping their eyes open for a chance to sight the reclusive Ogopogo. 

    • Check into your Kelowna area hotel, enjoy an evening at leisure. Accommodation options will be offered as suitable to the guest’s personal accessibility requirements.

  • Day 4: 

    • Check-out and taxi (not included, accessible options available), or extend your stay

 

Inclusions*: Airport pick-up, accessible transportation to/from South Okanagan,  cultural tours, wine tastings, ecological tour, agriculture educational experience, elder-led medicine walk, canoeing adventure, and Day 2 and 3 lunches 

 

Additional options: An accessible vehicle rental option is available for guest’s wishing to extend their stay and/or explore more of what this spectacular region has to offer. Additionally, a supported paddling experience is available for guests wishing to get out on the water and try their hand at lakesports. Adapted paddling equipment included.
