EXPERIENCE THE EXTRAORDINARY - TRAVEL IN THE SPIRIT OF RECONCILIATION

Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk_edited.jpg

More than just a trip to the Arctic Ocean, TREK2TUK4KIDS is a regenerative travel experience that invests in the future of the Western Arctic.

This intense three day adventure in Northwest Territories includes a supported trek between the communities of Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk, cultural experiences and so much more. TREK2TUK4KIDS is a fundraising initiative with 100% of proceeds to the Beaufort Delta Educational Council's Student Wellness Fund.

Do more than bear witness to the devastating impacts of the Climate Crisis, contribute directly. Leave the Western Arctic cleaner than you found it. TREK2TUK4KIDS is also a clean-up effort! Sanitation supplies will be provided to trekkers who are interested in increasing their impact, with collected refuse to be removed by local authorities.

What does the Student Wellness Fund support? Programming supported by your adventure includes sports and arts programming, student transportation for activities, wellness programs (including suicide prevention) and enrichment opportunities for students of Inuvik East 3 and Tuktoyaktuk Mangilaluk K-12 Schools. Funds raised under this program may also be used to support nutritional programs and counselling, funds are allocated to each school by the district, based on where they will best support student needs.

The 'TREK2TUK4KIDS' experience is customisable, and includes a 3+ night stay, and is designed for 1-6 persons. This self-guided experience includes:

There is currently an epidemic of suicides among youth in the region, with a great need to support wellness in the community. Hope House is independently operated by local community members and is not a registered non-profit or charitable society. Funds raised will be used to support programming and staffing. Long term plans are to secure a new home for Hope House.

**You've come all this way-extend your stay and experience the vast openness of Yukon's spaces and peoples. SoulFly offers experiences that include wilderness adventures, tasting journeys, artistic expression, and pampering. After TREK2TUK4KIDS Team SoulFly recommend sampling Whitehorse's culinary offerings and learning more about Yukon life.

Departures: This impactful experience is available annually, the next trek is happening:

Thursday June 6th-Sunday June 9th 2024 - CANCELLED

It is with great regret that we have had to cancel the 2024 Trek, but to ensure that we are providing a safe experience for all trekkers, we are no longer holding the road event. One of the joys about life in the North are the weather extremes, and locals are able to quickly adapt. Visitors however, may have some challenges dealing with the recent May snowfalls! As flurries are still expected throughout the month, we feel that the road conditions along the ITH (Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway) will be too difficult and delays in opening of ferry crossing/highways just adding to the demands.

Having said all of that, we are still eager to fundraise as much as we can for the kids! Weather conditions do not change the need for supporting the students wellbeing. Donations to the Beaufort Delta Education Council are being accepted.

*Watch this space for 2025 dates to be released.
